The Brands to Follow on Google+

This is the final part of a three part series on Google Plus. Part one, Why your brand needs Google Plus, and part two, Content on Google Plus can help you to develop your reach on this platform. Today, we are taking a look at the brands that you (and I) should be following as leaders on the platform.

The brands we will look at are from three different industries in order to show some variety. All of the brands allow their brand community to interact with the brand in a new way. Allowing the community behind the scenes, special offers or even product tips is what makes these pages stand out.

Food Services: Cadbury UK

Whether you are in food services or not, Cadbury is worth following. They have a large variety of content, including videos, pictures and recipes. They made this list for two reasons;

1. Story Telling: For the first time Cadbury released their Easter creme eggs in the fall, and they told a great story to go along with it. They created a whole universe, engaging their community and firmly establishing themselves as leaders on Google+.

2. Partnerships: Cadbury was busy this Halloween. They partnered with ParcelGenie to allow fans to send chocolate to a friend in the UK. This allowed their community to share Cadbury chocolate in a way they haven’t since grade school candygrams.

Apparel: Burberry

There are a lot of apparel companies on G+ showing off beautiful models in beautiful clothing. What makes Burberry stand out is the behind the scenes information that they let their brand community in on. Check out the video below, where Burberry shows off how their perfume bottles are made.

Technology: Samsung

Samsung’s G+ made our list because of a great combination of fun and value. Samsung provides information about their products, sharing tips and features that people may not be aware of. To add personality to their brand they don’t stray from informative posts, they simply add humour, providing tips on how to survive the busiest shopping day of the year.

It’s always controversial making a best of list. Who did we miss? Is there a google+ account that continually impresses you? Let us know in the comments!
