To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, we asked members of the Blade staff to tell us about their “Great Canadian Brand.” Here’s what Blade’s Project/Account Coordinator, Andrew Basso had to say:
What is your favourite Canadian brand?
My favourite Canadian brand is Cineplex Entertainment.
When did you first start following/adopting Cineplex Entertainment into your lifestyle?
I’ve watched a lot of movies throughout my lifetime and one of the very first movies I saw in theatres was “Rugrats in Paris: The Movie” when I was 9 years old. As I grew up, watching movies in theatres grew to be more and more exciting with the advancement of technology. Movies such as Planet of the Apes, Pirates of the Caribbean as well as superhero movies released by DC and Marvel have now evolved to have more sequels using bigger budgets than ever before.
What are the core values of Cineplex Entertainment that make you proud to be Canadian?
I really value the fact that Cineplex Entertainment has continued to expand their offerings as a premium entertainment provider. For example, they now feature older movies in some of their theatre locations and they have incorporated Eats and Entertainment (The Rec Room) which offers guests a variety of different food and drinks, video games, ping pong and live entertainment. Timeplay has also been revamped as “A Social & Interactive Entertainment Experience”, with more interactive games that tie into partnerships with big name brands such as Froyo, Lindt and Koodo. Guests now have a chance to win discounts on frozen yogurt, free chocolate and even free movies for a year! http://timeplay.com/
The fun never seems to stop at Cineplex Entertainment and with virtual reality taking off in the next 10-15 years, the opportunities are endless for Cineplex Entertainment to continue to be Canada’s great Canadian brand.
